Michael Kennedy is Vice President for Global Government Relations and Public Policy at VMware, the digital infrastructure software company with over $11 billion in annual revenues and 33,000 employees worldwide. Since 2014, Mr. Kennedy has led VMware’s global GR team in areas of policy and regulatory development; commercial and public procurement opportunities; and issues related to VMware's political, community, sustainability, and brand awareness.
Mr. Kennedy also serves on the Board of Directors for the US-ASEAN Business Council, the Finance Committee of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the Board of the Senate Republican Chiefs of Staff Association, VMware’s Global Crisis Management Team, the VMware PAC Board of Directors (Treasurer and Secretary), and the VMware Executive Sustainability Council. He has previously served on the Board of Governors for the DC-based Carlton Club and the ITI Executive Council, and he has been recognized as one of The Hill’s Top Lobbyists.
Prior to VMware, Mr. Kennedy was Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Orrin G. Hatch of Utah. Before working in the U.S. Senate, Mr. Kennedy served in the administration of Utah State University as Vice President for Federal and State Relations. Prior to USU, Mr. Kennedy spent seven years in Washington, DC representing clients before the U.S. Congress and Administration.
